I live in New York. I am a stand up comic, writer and actor. You may have seen my writing on many reputable websites (The Huffington Post, Hello Giggles, xojane.com, The Hairpin, Splitsider, The FW, etc.). I also write crazy blogs about Game of Thrones, Magneto and Jeff Goldblum. I was formerly member of the PITtv House Team, Codswallop.

You can email me at megsokay@gmail.com.

Who am I?

The show I’m doing on Oct. 27 wants a bio and photo and video and stuff to help promote me. The problem is I’m so new my bio is laughable, my photo is unprofessional and my video is non-existent. This is what I have so far for a bio…I’m still working on it:

As a stand up comic, improviser and actress, Meghan O’Keefe has been seen at venues all over New York and Boston, including the EastVille Comedy Club, the Laugh Lounge & ImprovBoston. Meghan is a contributing writer to theapiary.org and authored “Heroine Chic”, a column on the roles of women in comic books, for mondomagazine.net. She has been studying and performing improv comedy since the age of 17. She has trained at ImprovBoston, ImprovAsylum and is currently studying at the PIT.  At Boston University, she performed improv as a member of Liquid Fun. She has studied sketch writing at ImprovBoston, the UCB and the Magnet Theater. In college she was one course short of graduating with a minor in Classical Studies because she chose to take a class in Traditional English Morris Dancing instead. It was worth it to wear bells in public.

Oh, and she has a blog: megsokay.tumblr.com.

I think the trick is to make myself sound interesting and impressive. I think I just sound lame. I wish my bio had more pegasuses (pegasi?). That and television credits.

This is what I thought my semester abroad at Oxford was going to look like. Instead, I schlepped around in an unseemly red hoodie, chased a Scottish boy who never liked me like that and read Shopaholic into the wee hours of the morning after completing my coursework. Not as glamorous as this photo, but still a magical time.
