Yesterday, I was planning on going to an open mic for the first time in AGES because my life finally has some structure again, and then I was randomly asked if I wanted to write about feminism and comedy and Amy Schumer for The Guardian's website. And I was like, “Yeah, I've always wanted to write one of those essays for The Guardian that makes people angry. Sure!”

So, I wrote an essay and they slapped some link-baity titles, subtitles and photos to it—and they changed the word “sketch” to “skit,” and anyway, here it is: my Guardian debut.

(I also think a shout out to @sarabenincasa is in order because she may have put me up to it.)

"[Lily Collins]’s now so committed an actress that she has set up a Twitter account for the character Clary Fary, whom she will play in the first film adaptation of bestselling teen sci-fi series The Mortal Instruments."

Lily Collins interview: I’m not doing this for fame, Guardian.co.uk

"And yet, I still struggle to understand why a woman of her intelligence would want to write about women at their silliest. I tell her I looked at her website, failed to find a sentence unadorned by an exclamation mark, and wondered how she could bear to channel the breathless hysteria of a teenager, gifting male critics with an excuse to dismiss her. “Do you know,” she says, smiling, “I don’t feel overlooked, cos I have a lot of readers who are loyal.”"

I just want to talk to someone about this Sophie Kinsella (Madeleine Wickham) profile in The Guardian as well as Jenny Geras’s Op Ed in response.

I have so many thoughts and Jenny Geras covers most, but not all of them.

Lungs won the award for best British album at the Brit awards in 2010, but Welch says her new album is “more joyous”. Reflecting on a new-found maturity, she adds: “It’s partly what the new album’s about. Do I want to be stuck in teenage land, where everything’s free and easy? You know, is it time to grow up?”

Florence and the Machine
Important thoughts. Amazing album.
